SMBs are smart to include their phone numbers on their websites so customers can easily contact them.

Small businesses looking to boost their visibility and user engagement through social media marketing have an even larger audience to target on Twitter, as the microblogging website’s mobile site is an increasingly popular destination for iPhone users, according to Nielsen.

While Google and Facebook are the two most popular with 92 percent 86 percent of measured iPhone users visiting the websites, Twitter came in the No. 3 spot with 63 percent – ahead of such popular websites as Yahoo, Wikipedia and Amazon.

Nielsen’s report further indicates the growing similarities between the mobile web and desktop web access. Users are no longer turning to their smartphones simply for quick information. For small business owners, the growing performance of smartphones is a positive in the sense that they can access websites without losing much capability.

Android users do not visit Twitter’s website very frequently, instead opting to rely on the company’s application and those developed by third parties. Either way, small businesses can target the vast social media audience more with the growth of mobility.

Twitter’s value to small businesses continues to grow beyond further adoption by news users. ContentLEAD reported recently that the microblogging website recently added brand pages to its offerings. Previously, businesses using Twitter used the same profile format as consumer users.
